Management Innovation Proposal
Every year since 1987, we have selected current key managerial issues for study, defined causes and in turn made proposals of countermeasures and ways to overcome them. From these activities, we do not merely indicate a way to correct the problem; our emphasis is to generate a solution through constructive discussion. The feedback to individuals and enterprises brings about internal change in ideas contributing to innovation and success.
Research Imminent Corporate Management Issues
Every year since 1979, we have conducted surveys of managers to draw useful information from them to help resolve operational issues, and design effective organisational strategies. By defi ning and analysing obstacles faced by Japanese enterprises in the mid- to long-term, we are able to deduce defi nitive issues and overcome them to optimise corporate activities.
Award Excellent Skill Development
Amongst our skill-building activities, we recognise enterprises and regional teams that have shown excellence in improving and enhancing their performance, with the goal of promoting beneficial activity in companies, uplifting the industry as a whole. Since its introduction in 1988, we have honoured this award to a total of 59 companies.
Organise Thematic Study Groups
We design and collect opinion polls of new corporate employees through study groups. We tackle individual topics on management, thereby deepening exchange and discussions towards resolving practical problems.

Administration of Public Bodies Innovation

We support management innovation for organisations, schools and self-governing bodies that face challenges to cater for continually changing customer needs and business environment.

Customised Training
We suggest optimal forms of training and education programmes to meet specific issues and needs of enterprises. The introduction of JMA solution services is not only suitable for HR personnel, but extends to other department personnel such as planning, sales, marketing, production/manufacturing and research & development.
Next-Generation Leader Training
As well as excellent managers, all enterprises require applicable resource development systems to prepare potential candidates to become corporate leaders for the future. Completing this training would enable employees to think and act progressively, become more open to challenging paradigms and be able to convey the spirit of change to their team convincingly.

Manager Training

We support enterprises to build strategies and set up

We have conducted training for candidates of top-tier management personnel such as directors, executives and others. The programme has been running for over a quarter of a century and we have so far educated over 6,000 leaders.
Top Management Training
We have implemented programmes for top-tier management personnel to review and rejuvenate their knowledge and behaviour in the workplace, as well as to acquire essential and updated management ideas.
Management Institute (JMI)
By understanding the nature of management and determining core competences required by excellent managers, we have been able to conduct a long-term training course for future executives. In the last 20 years, approximately 2,000 candidates have completed the course.
Business Leader Development
With an aim to educate potential business leaders, we have bettered senior management candidates with vital leadership know-how in addition to devised programmes aimed to increase their practical skills.

Training by Skill and Level
In this tier-specific training that targets new corporate employees through to division leaders, we provide open programmes for all levels to study comprehensive management skills. Each individual would acquire business skills using the latest management techniques and practices.
Overseas Training / Overseas Research Groups
We offer a number of unique training opportunities that take place on boats and overseas. Outside of a familiar classroom setting, these extraordinary locations and method of training give participants a true learning experience. The programme intends to accentuate the individual's corporate awareness and to draw constructive conclusions from previous experiences. We focus on the development of each individual's assets, working with associates across a spectrum of companies and industries. Participants have the chance to discuss and share in a group on subjects such as the qualities of a good leader. This programmes opens to improving communication skills and applying this ability in the workplace. In addition, we set specific topics and tasks in response to which participating groups devise proposals and present their findings.

With an aim to creating a platform for a free flow of exchange of information and people, we hold conventions that provide an opportunity to align business practices and guidelines with other industry specialists. We introduce numerous and the latest case studies, defining reasons for their success and aspects of improvements as a whole.

Production Management

We support manufacturing improvement to build and
cement good grounding for survival in this global age.

Since being founded in 1942, we have supported improvements of productivity in the manufacturing sector. With the intention to support the manufacturing industry, we have been holding activities such as seminars and symposiums to share know-how, expertise, and informative abilities.

We also have conducted a qualification system as a measurable guideline to improve the knowledge and skills of technicians and other members including front line supervisors, purchasing staff, engineers and production management from a global standpoint. We also raise awareness in corporate vision in order to stimulate consistent company-wide improvement from development to distribution.
Training Programmes
For the production field, we hold over 150 specialised seminars annually, covering more than 100 topics related to the advancing management techniques.
Certifi cation System
We conduct certification tests such as CPP to measure applicable skills of procurement to professionals in the manufacturing sector and CPE for production engineers, and CPF for front line supervisors.
Platform for Exchange
For many years we have been holding significant events during which leading companies demonstrate how to overcome obstacles pertaining to industries. We hold meetings with front line supervisors to select winning companies and institutions that have best improved their managerial operations. Winners are selected from preliminary regional competitions. In addition, we send many delegations overseas in order to gain leadership training on the global stage.

Production Innovation Competition

At a national front line supervisor meeting, we select the winner based on votes by the delegates and offer the Taiichi OHNO award to the best improved case study (Recipient: Hirotaka YASUNAGA).

Promotion of Development and Technology

We support the revitalization of the manufacturing
industry through providing a place for the exchange of
people and technical information.

Via the promotion of the strengths of Japanese technology and R&D capabilities to the industrial world, the dissemination of relevant technical information, and the nurture of specialist technicians, our contribution extends to related industries.
Exchange of Technical Information
We hold a number of technical conferences and exhibitions such as "TECHNO-FRONTIER", "INCHEM TOKYO", "Technology Development Exhibition" and "Chemical Technology Symposium" to contribute to the development of precision equipment, electronics, and environmental technology, advanced technology industries such as machinery and electronic goods.
Technician Training / Development
In order to promote active research and information exchange, JMA sponsors the promotion of "Development Management" (management with an emphasis on continuous development of new products and industries to establish competitive advantages), and "CTO Forum" which aims to bring together CEOs of Japan's representative organisations. Furthermore, in order to promote newly developed management ideas, we hold a variety of lectures and offer educational programmes for human resource development.

Through professional conferences and exhibitions,
we contribute to industrial promotion and development
of related technologies and services.

We plan and hold professional seminars to develop and make known new technologies and services to meet the needs of the changing times. We contribute to the revitalisation of industries through active exchange of information and people.

Certification & Registration

Through our audits, we register and certify companies and
organisations, contributing to the further development
of industry and the international community.

It is essential to raise the reliability of products and services that continuously meet customer needs and social requirements. We support these organisations improve the quality of their management. We perform third party audits for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). We work to develop new fields of certification and in response to new management system and product certification standards, and by fair inspection principles, we support efforts to improve management quality.

Support Global Warming Countermeasures

We contribute to global warming countermeasures
through inspection of greenhouse gas emission levels.

In order to fulfil social responsibilities for "Environmental Management", we have established JMACC (Japan Management Association GHG Certification Centre) to serve as a screening agency for greenhouse gas emissions inspection and certification.

We strive to improve satisfaction and enhance services
for corporate members.

The foundation of JMA is our organisation members. All members receive many beneficial services such as frequent industry surveys and research reports, free of charge. We also offer discounts for training courses and for participation in trade shows and provide speakers for events.
