Study of Management began in the 1880s and later was codified into a field called Scientific Management, which spread quickly around the world. In Japan, this concept evolved into the pursuit of efficiency, and in 1942 the Japan Management Association (JMA) was established as an organization to promote that concept, based on IE and other management methods.
JMA set the three basic principles that govern all the activities.
1. Japan-oriented strategy toward efficiency.
2. Execution than vacuous theory
3. Priority basis than all-round policy
Based on these principles, we have been focusing our efforts on study and consultation on IE and other management methods.
Our processes and results continue to receive wide acclaim by industries around the world.
JMA's achievements at the early stage
Tanker production project with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (1944)
Our unique approach has produced a revolutionary production method and process management system, which dramatically cut the tanker building work period from eight months to just three months.
Drastic production line process improvement that formed the basis of Toyota production method (1944)
JMA and Toyota came up with a method that dramatically reduced the setup time from several hours to less than 10 minutes.
As Japan economy and industry grew rapidly and became diversified and increasingly complex, specialized areas inside JMA became independent and were spun off as new entities. Today, JMA Group consists of nine organizations including four associations.
More than 1,700 professionals are exerting their capacities to provide solutions to various management issues, in terms of increasing values of human resources, corporation, and information.

Activities of the JMA Group extend far beyond Japan.
